Melanie: first post!!

Testing!
Okay, the goal here is to give updates on our trip to Europe! All three of us (myself, Meredith and my mom) will try and post something about our trip whenever we get a chance. We'll see how long this lasts before we start to flake out... I'm going to give it about three days into our trip. Possibly fewer.

Tomorrow, or, I guess TODAY we head out from the Boston airport on Icelandic Air to Europe! Our layover is in Iceland and from there we're flying into Amsterdam. I'm particularly excited about Amsterdam, mostly because it was the city I got to plan! We hit one snag there when mom decided that the hotel I booked for us wasn't exactly a great fit. I don't blame her, as further googling of the hotel showed that it was pretty much a hostel which got the rating of 1/2 a star. Luckily, she booked us another place.

I'm really excited to explore Amsterdam and see all the cool museums there. I'm most looking forward to the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank house. Plus, I heard that the nightlife isn't so bad there either... Oh! The other thing I'm dying to do is to relive the Pulp Fiction conversation when I get home so obviously I have to go see the insanity that is a Royale with cheese and the fact that the Dutch put mayo on their fries! Ew, pass for me, but I'll definitely have to pop into a McDonald's to confirm the rumors. Also, the Heineken experience museum or whatever, looks very cool.

Another cool thing about our five days in Amsterdam is that we're all taking a day trip to Dusseldorf in Germany to visit my roommate from boarding school, Julia. I'm really excited because I haven't seen her in two years and I'm glad we're getting a chance to catch up!

After Amsterdam, we're heading to London for six days and then a week in Paris! We're going to count on Meredith for the communication in Paris, she's pretty good at French. I doubt my two years of middle school French will help at all, but we'll see. I know that grapefruit is pamplemousse... but that's it.

I guess that's pretty much it, I'm going to go back to packing things that aren't obscenely American and working on my Canadian accent. I'm thinking we should say we're from Ottawa or Ontario. If you want me to take a picture of anything or buy you a tacky Eiffel Tower replica, let me know. We'll also have Meredith and my mom's cell with us. I'm pretty sure that phone calls are close to a trillion dollars, but hearing our melodious voices is totally worth it, right?

XOX!!! Melanie
